Q: What is Hbc Pet Insurance?
A: Hbc Pet Insurance is health insurance for cats and dogs that covers up to 80% of the cost of care and veterinary services including x-rays, hospitalization, surgery and even prescriptions required for any illness or accident. We offer 3 easy plans that can match your pet's needs.
Q: Can I use any veterinarian?
A: Yes. You can keep your own vet or any other licensed veterinarian in Canada. While vacationing in North America, you can even visit a licensed veterinarian in any province, territory, or in the continental United States.
Q: Is there a waiting period for coverage?
A: Yes, and it is activated from your policy start date. For accident coverage, it is 48 hours, and for illness coverage it is 14 days.
Q: What is not covered?
A: Hbc Pet Insurance does not cover:
- Pre-existing conditions
- Any treatment that is not directly related to an accident or illness (eg. nail trims)
- Flea control or treatments of a diagnosed flea allergy dermatitis
- Any food including prescription or therapeutic
- Any dental costs, including accidental injury, illness, or preventive care
- House calls by your veterinarian
- Expenses incurred outside of Canada and other than while travelling in the continental United States

Q: How do I make a claim?

Q: What is co-insurance?
A: Before any applicable deductible is applied, you must pay a percentage of your claim. Hbc Pet Insurance pays up to 80% of your claim which means you are responsible for as little as 20%.
Q: Does my pet need annual check-ups to remain eligible?
A: You must arrange a yearly examination and follow any treatment that is recommended by your veterinarian to prevent illness or injury. Vaccinations must also be kept current.
